Sewing Class
July 16th-18th
Ages 8-16

Machine and hand-sewing are among the most useful skills to learn in the field of textiles. In this class children are safely introduced to operating a sewing machine and learn basic stitches and types of seams. Participants will work according to taste and skill level on a personal project such as a tote bag, pillow, toy or simple garment. Sewing playfully trains focus, simple calculus, and motor skills. The no-mistake approach gives children pride in their work and encourages a lifelong joy in sewing.
Neon Wood Sculpture Class
July 30th- Aug. 1st
Ages 8-16
10:00-12:00
Bright neon colors and wood come together as unique sculptures. Students will design and build wood sculptures that are inspired by Louise Nevelson’s works, then paint them with neon acrylics. We will begin by looking at some works by Nevelson, then students are off on their own exploration! Students will be encouraged to find and analyze negative space as well as positive space, and then translate those observations into a sculpture they create. The end result will be a bright, small-scale 3D sculpture.
